Kepong MP: Are police sleeping on the job?

PETALING JAYA: Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng today asked if the Narcotic Crime Investigations Departments (NCID) in Kuala Lumpur police headquarters and Bukit Aman have been sleeping on the job.
"Or are there rotten figures in our NCID closing their eyes on all these known illicit activities?" he asked in a statement today.
The DAP MP was referring to the death of a three-year-old toddler who died after being stabbed more than 30 times by a relative, whom he said is a known drug abuser. However, Lim didn't furnish proof that the suspect was a drug user.
"I was told by many people at the wake that the suspected killer, an uncle to the deceased, is a known drug abuser," he said. "I, therefore, believe the killer was under the influence of illegal drugs when he stabbed the toddler more than 30 times with two scissors.
"This is not and will not be the final violent crime that is caused by illegal drugs. It will continue as long as the drug supply is not plugged."
Lim said it is a public knowledge that illegal drugs can easily be bought from the streets.
"A shopping mall at Jinjang, Kepong, near where the toddler's house is, is a well-known party place for addicts to look for drugs," he said.
"This has been happening for many years. People seeking drugs will party there until morning every weekend. And this shopping mall in Jinjang is not the only party place for illegal drugs activities. There are many more sprouting out as they have been left unchecked.
"I concur and give total support to the recent announcement by the Home Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to revamp the police force and immigration department."
