Flower Mound Marcus 4-star WR Ashton Cozart flips commitment from Oklahoma to Oregon

Cozart is rated as the third-best wide receiver in the Dallas area in the Class of 2023.

Flower Mound Marcus four-star wide receiver Ashton Cozart announced on Twitter on Sunday night that he has switched his commitment from Oklahoma to Oregon.

It’s a big flip for Oregon, which now has the 20th-ranked recruiting class in the nation. OU is No. 37 on that list after losing the second-ranked player in its class. Cozart had been committed to Oklahoma since Feb. 4.

Cozart (6-3, 190) is rated the third-best wide receiver and the 14th-best overall recruit in the area in the Class of 2023 by The Dallas Morning News. He is ranked as the 23rd-best receiver in the nation and as the 32nd-best recruit in Texas in the 247Sports composite ratings.

Cozart was a big-play threat last season, averaging 18.9 yards per catch, with 36 receptions for 680 yards and 11 touchdowns for an 8-3 team. Marcus is the third high school that Cozart has been at after attending Burien (Wash.) Kennedy Catholic as a freshman and Richland as a sophomore.

He lists times of 4.45 seconds for the 40-yard dash and 10.74 in the 100 meters on his recruiting page. Cozart is the second wide receiver to commit to Oregon for the Class of 2023, joining four-star recruit Jurrion Dickey from California.
