A women's contemporary fashion brand has closed its store at Derbion. Whistles opened in what was then Intu Derby in July 2020 - the first new store the company had opened following the easing of lockdown.
But five years later, the shop has now shut its doors. It has joined Superdry in leaving the Derby shopping centre.
Whistles is owned by the South African Foschini Group and has 40 stores worldwide and 60 concessions. The reason for leaving has not been revealed.
Beth McDonald, Derbion managing director, said: “While all shopping destinations see changes in their store line-ups, we are sad to confirm that Whistles has closed its Derbion store.
"Derbion is home to some of our retailers’ best-performing UK stores and attracts a lot of interest from a wide range of national and international brands. As part of our ongoing commitment to refreshing and expanding our offering for our visitors, Victoria’s Secret will open this summer, joining the likes of JD and H Samuel, who have recently opened new, bigger, better stores in the centre.
"We are always in discussions with potential new arrivals, and we will be able to announce more fantastic brands joining our line-up very soon."

Fashion store Jack Wills is currently holding a closing down sale and Iceland has moved out of the centre to relocate in London Road. Derbyshire Live has asked Whistles for a comment on the situation.
