Dunnes Stores has issued an urgent recall for several batches of popular burgers due to serious health concerns.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has alerted consumers to the potential health risk involving certain batches of Hogan’s Farm Turkey Burgers. The implicated batches were sold in regular, spicy buffalo glaze and Asian BBQ glaze varieties, in various supermarkets across Ireland including Dunnes Stores.
The affected burgers were found to have a missing or incorrect ingredient list, with sulphur dioxide not being disclosed on the labels. The ingredient, which is commonly used as a preservative, may cause severe allergic reactions in those who are sensitive to it.
The specific products involved in the recall are:
- Hogan’s Farm Turkey Burgers 400g with best before dates: 25.03.2025, 26.03.2025, 28.03.2025

- Hogan’s Farm Turkey Burgers with an Asian BBQ Glaze 260g with best before dates: 25.03.2025, 26.03.2025, 27.03.2025

Symptoms of those reacting to sulphur dioxide may include:
- Wheezing
- Shortness of breath (dyspnea)
- Chest tightness
- Coughing
- Sneezing
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Hives
Rarely, people with a sulfite allergy can have anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction. This can cause:
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Flushing (your skin swelling, getting hot or turning red)
- Fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
- Severe wheezing
- Dizziness
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
