The chip company on Wednesday unveiled the three finalist flavors and will soon give fans an opportunity to decide which flavor will be crowned the winner, according to Lay's. This spring and summer, customers will be able to purchase the three flavors and vote online for their best-loved choice.

Here's what to know about each of the three finalists.

What is the Lay's 'Do Us A Flavor' contest?

The Lay's "Do Us A Flavor" contest allows fans nationwide to submit ideas for potato chip flavors for a chance to have their idea become Lay's chips sold at stores. Participants can win $1 million, the company said. The contest returned in fall 2024 following a seven-year pause. The contest debuted in 2012.

How can you join the contest?

The three finalist flavors are available in Michigan stores now. You can vote for your favorite flavor online at DoUsAFlavor.com.

What are the finalist flavors?

According to Lay's, the three finalists are:

  • Lay's Bacon Grilled Cheese
  • Lay's Valentina & Lime
  • Lay's Wavy Korean-Style Fried Chicken

When does the contest take place?

Customers can try the three flavors and vote for their favorite between April 21 and June 13, Lay's said.

Where are Lay's sold in Michigan?

In Michigan, major chains including Kroger, Meijer, Target, Walmart and others sell Lay's potato chips.

Lay's Bacon Grilled Cheese

Lay's Bacon Grilled Cheese is one of the finalists of the Lay's Do Us A Flavor contest.

The flavor was submitted by Paula George, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Lay's said.

"This finalist is a savory, nostalgic ode combining two of everyone's favorites — bacon & grilled cheese," Lay's said in a news release.

The company said George drew inspiration from her late father's bacon grilled cheese recipe and "hopes the flavor will bring fans the memory of a delicious home-cooked meal, enjoyed on the cheesy crunch of a Lay's potato chip," according to the news release.

Lay's Valentina & Lime

Lay's Valentina & Lime is one of the finalists of the Lay's Do Us A Flavor contest.

This flavor, submitted by Araceli Huerta, of San Jose, California, is a "zesty, fiery finalist" that packs a punch, according to Lay's.

"The flavor calls back to Huerta's favorite childhood snack made by her mom, a bag of Lay's Classic potato chips tossed with Valentina hot sauce and fresh lime," Lay's said in a news release.

Lay's Wavy Korean-Style Fried Chicken

Lay's Korean-Style Fried Chicken is one of the finalists of the Lay's Do Us A Flavor contest.

This flavor was submitted by Neelia Lynn, of Chesterfield, Virginia, according to Lay's, and draws inspiration from her family's time in South Korea.

"A little bit spicy, a little bit sweet, Wavy Korean-Style Friend Chicken is here to add some street-food flair to the snack aisle," Lay's said in the news release.

What were some past winners?

Past winners included flavors such as Lay's Crispy Taco, Lay's Southern Biscuits & Gravy and Lay's Cheesy Garlic Bread, among others.
