A 23-year-old man was arrested Sunday on attempted murder accusations after a shooting a day earlier in the parking lot of a Fred Meyer store, the Hillsboro Police Department said.
Heriberto Tapia Naranjo was taken into custody on accusations of attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
About 4:45 a.m. Saturday, police responded to reports of a shooting at the Fred Meyer at Southeast Tualatin Valley Highway and Century Boulevard, between downtown Hillsboro and Aloha.
They discovered an injured victim, who was taken to a local hospital. Police did not release the name of the victim.
They were told red pickup had left the scene. Later, responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle, they found an unoccupied truck with a broken window and deflated tire in the Sunset Esplanade, a few miles away from the Fred Meyer.
They determined the driver had been Tapia Naranjo, located him and placed him under arrest.
