Council officials say they are trying to help rough sleepers who have made Nuneaton's former Woolworth store entrance their home. Up to three men have been spotted in the entrance to the old store on Queens Road.
It has been almost a week since mattresses and sleeping bags were first seen outside the closed shop. They remained there at the weekend including when Nuneaton's new-look Saturday market was held.
The building, which also once housed TJ Hughes, is owned by the borough council. CoventryLive contacted the council.

In a statement, a council spokesperson said they are offering help. "Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is aware of the rough sleepers in the town centre, we can advise that we are working collaboratively with our statutory and third sector partners to provide access to housing advice to relieve homelessness and enable suitable accommodation," the spokesperson said.
"Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s vision is to reduce homelessness in the borough by providing information, advice, and early interventions to prevent those at risk losing their home. To support people who are homeless to find a safe and secure place to call home and reduce the use of temporary accommodation."

It concludes: "To end rough sleeping for good, as detailed in our Homelessness and Rough Sleepers strategy that can be found on the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council website.’’
