Asda has confirmed its opening hours for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend - and the opening times for the majority of its supermarket stores have changed.

There are always two bank holidays over Easter, and each year shops, businesses, and supermarkets across the UK change their opening hours to reflect this. The two bank holidays are Good Friday, which falls on April 18 this year, and Easter Monday, which is April 21.

In the UK, Easter Sunday is classed as a public holiday - like Christmas Day - and under trading rules larger shops that are over 280 sq meters need to close on this day.

Asda - like other supermarket chains - has confirmed its opening hours for the bank holiday weekend, and on Easter Sunday all of Asda's larger stores will be closing for the day.

Shoppers should not panic about the closure, as Asda will be operating under their normal opening hours during the week - so from Monday April 14 to Thursday, April 17 - with the only change coming over the weekend.

At Asda, the usual opening hours are between 6am and 8am until 10pm and midnight. Asda Express stores - which are the supermarket's convenience stores - are often open for 24 hours, and this will remain the same in the lead-up and over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

On Good Friday, Asda locations in England and Wales will open from 7am to 7pm. On Saturday, April 19, Asda will open as normal between 6am and 8am and close at 10pm Some Asda stores usually open later than this, but they will all close at 10pm on Easter Saturday.

After closing on Sunday, on Monday, Asda will reopen again at 7am and will close 7pm. Asda locations in Northern Ireland will also be closed on Easter Sunday. They will open from 7am to 10pm on Good Friday, Easter Saturday, and Easter Monday.

It's important to note that, Scottish stores are allowed to stay open on Easter Sunday and the bank holidays and will operate under their usual trading hours.

Overall, Asda has 580 larger supermarket stores, alongside around 500 convenience stores across the country. To be absolutely certain of when your local Asda will open and close, make sure you use its store locator tool. This can be found on the Asda website.
