A 24-year-old woman was airlifted to New Providence for emergency medical treatment following an industrial accident at a Bimini business establishment on April 29.
The incident occurred shortly before 3:00 pm when the employee’s hair became caught in a pressing machine while she was working in the laundry department. She sustained severe injuries to her head before a coworker was able to assist her.
Police and medical personnel quickly responded to the scene and transported the victim to the local clinic for initial treatment. Due to the severity of her injuries, medical officials arranged for her to be airlifted to New Providence for specialized care.
Authorities report that the woman’s condition is currently listed as stable. Police on the island of Bimini are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the industrial accident.
