A supermarket in Bicester has closed temporarily for upgrades.

The Aldi store in Launton Road closes at 4pm today (May 18) and will reopen to customers on Friday, May 23 at 8am.

The upgrades will make for a more sustainable store, according to the supermarket giant.

Changes include increased chiller space, complete with new fridge doors to reduce energy consumption.

There will also be additional room for Specialbuys and a redesigned Health and Beauty and Bakery sections for a modernised look.

While the store is closed, the closest Aldis can be found in Osier Way in Buckingham, Botley Road in Oxford, and Ruscote Avenue in Banbury.

Last May, Aldi launched a public appeal seeking locations across the UK in need of the supermarket, receiving more than 4,000 responses.

The areas suggested were reviewed and used to develop its store search over the coming years.
