McDonald’s confirms major shakeup to opening hours for 13,637 locations this summer for ‘late night cravings’

MCDONALD'S has confirmed a major shakeup to opening hours for the vast majority of its locations this summer, and it's perfect for those with late night cravings.

The fast food giant is doing everything it can to make the most of the summer season, as it looks for new faces to serve customers.

With the seasons about to change, McDonald's is planning for a big few months in the US.

We've all been there, going in for a late night Big Mac, only to find it closed, and our cravings, unmet.

But that is about to change, as McDonald's confirms that most of its restaurants will stay open for longer this summer, per USA Today.

The majority of the franchises will even stay open past midnight, including in airports.

However, restaurants in locations that prohibit later opening hours will be excluded from late night hours.

This includes places like airports and shopping malls, and will be back open during normal breakfast hours.

A company statement said: "Our fans know there’s no better way to end an unforgettable night than by feasting on your favorite McDonald’s order.

"That’s why, as the summer season kicks off, we’re excited to offer up more ways for customers to satisfy their late-night cravings with more choices and expanded hours at more restaurants."

To celebrate the occasion, McDonald's is also offering is offering 1,000 free virtual gift cards on May 24.

Longer hours means more workers are needed at the fast food chain.

McDonald's is hiring for up to 375,000 new positions in the US this summer.

It is one the largest hiring blitzes that the company has done in years, as it plans a massive restaurant surge over the next few years.

McDonald's aims to open 50,000 new locations by 2027.

McDonald's $5 Meal Deal:

  • McDouble or McChicken sandwich

  • Small soft drink

Wendy's $5 Biggie Bag:

  • Junior Bacon Cheeseburger or Crispy Chicken Sandwich

Burger King's $5 Your Way Meal:

  • Whopper Junior, Chicken Junior, or Bacon Cheeseburger
  • Fries
  • Four-piece chicken nuggets

This would mark an increase in 900 over the next two years, as per its original plan.

McDonald's USA's Joe Erlinger commented: "I often think about the time I spent working in our restaurants as a General Manager, and it was immediately clear that crew members are the heart and soul of this brand."

McDonald's currently employees nearly 2 million people globally, with a staggering 1 in 8 people having worked in one of its restaurants.
