A fruit that can give a false positive in a breathalyser test. Yes, strange as it may sound. And it is... the banana. There are certain intakes that can be manifested in this test and this fruit can cause it
Very ripe fruits such as bananas can generate a false positive. Why? By fermenting naturally, "they can release small amounts of ethanol, especially if they have been stored for a long time or at high temperatures," according to Infobae.
In addition, chocolates that may contain alcohol, cough syrups and mouthwashes if used minutes before a test can also give a false positive. However, after about 15 minutes they should not affect the test.

Banana prices skyrocket in Spain: the reason why
In recent days, the rise in the price of bananas has attracted attention. It is going to the supermarkets and the price is frightening. On X, a tweet comparing its cost in a supermarket, 3.70 euros per kilo, with that of the Costa Rican banana, at 1.50 euros, has had quite an impact.
Platano de Canarias has responded to this and other messages: "We are really sorry about the complaint about the price. The truth is that we are living in a very complicated situation."
And they explain the cause: "In December, the subtropical storm Dorothea hit the Canary Islands with winds of more than 130 km/h. The result was devastating: thousands of banana trees were destroyed, crops were lost, electricity supply was cut off... This has greatly reduced production and increased costs (in addition to other external factors beyond our control)," the organisation explained. It added: "The current situation is not usual, but it is a reality that is affecting us all, from those who grow bananas to those who buy them".
