ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A man accused of shooting and killing a 32-year-old man is now a free man.

Kendrick Morrison-Cook was charged with murder after police say he shot Jeremy Prescott on his porch on Lorenzo Street on July 9, 2024.

Cook’s bench trial was just getting underway, but the witness to the murder couldn’t be found to testify. Therefore, his case and his indictment were dismissed.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office says exhaustive efforts were made to find the witness, but had no luck.
