Lagardère Travel Retail upgrades stores at Hannover Central Station

GERMANY. Lagardère Travel Retail Germany has modernised and reopened two stores at Hannover Central Station: a 130sq m Relay unit and a 200sq m Quickpress shop. It also operates a Virgin store at the location.

Chief Marketing Officer Oliver Hempel said that the Relay modernisation is part of a continuing roll-out of a new concept for the brand, while Quickpress also sports a new design.

Relay at Hannover Station: Up to 250,000 travellers per day use the facility

The Relay concept is tailored for numbers that reach up to 250,000 per day at Hannover Central, according to the travel retailer. Hempel said: “A large station like Hannover has a high proportion of long-distance travellers as well as commuters. So we offer snacks and beverages, but remain focused on press and books, with a wide range of paperbacks, books for children, guidebooks and travel guides.”

The modular store design features large screens in the shop windows and in the shop area, a clear separation between different product groups for easy orientation by customers, and furniture in bright shades contrasting with warm, wooden surfaces.

Quickpress, the largest press and bookshop at the station, is located on the stairway to track nine and now also has new furniture and offers newspapers, magazines, current bestsellers, travel literature, as well as snacks and drinks.

At DB Station&Service – a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn that is responsible for managing over 5,000 train stations on the German rail network – Marcus Kienitz commented: “The shop fittings, as well as the lighting, have a modern, bright and friendly effect. We thank Lagardère Travel Retail for the new look and we are happy to continue our long-standing, prosperous collaboration.”

Lagardère Travel Retail Germany currently has around 160 shops at 15 airports and nearly 50 railway stations in Germany, Austria and Slovenia.
